Brain Awareness 2004! Schedule of Events

Programs for Young People:

Tennessee State-Wide Brain Bee on the internet - students in grades 9 through 12 compete in a Brain Bee on the internet at Vanderbilt’s Virtual School website at http://www.vanderbilt.edu/virtualschool/brainbee.htm

The Brain Bee was held Tuesday, February 10th, 2004

2004 Tennessee Statewide Brain Bee Winner:

Jingyuan Wu, Oak Ridge High School

Congratulations!! Jing achieved a contest state all-time high score of 97 (shown above with his parents and Vanderbilt Brain Institute Director, Elaine Sanders-Bush, Ph.D.). As Tennessee's winner, Jing competed in the International Brain Bee at the University of Maryland Medical School in Baltimore on March 19th-21st and PLACED SECOND. We are VERY pleased with our WINNER!! The International Brain Bee web site at http://web.sfn.org/baw/bee.cfm

Oak Ridge student wins Tennessee Brain Bee Competition


Saturday, March 6th, 2004

Brain Blast! Family Fun at the Adventure Science Center:

11:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m.

Come to the Adventure Science Center and enjoy a variety of hands-on activities led by Vanderbilt neuroscience undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty. Brain Blast is free, but participants must pay the museum entry fee.

Also see the Brain Balloon – a brain-shaped, 9-story tall hot air balloon (http://www.brainballoon.com/main-frames.htm). The balloon will be there all day.

Co-sponsored by the Vanderbilt Center for Molecular Neuroscience, the Adventure Science Center and the Vanderbilt Brain Institute
